Lead up to scene (c/p-ed from aidara, of course, 'cause I can't be arsed to write anything for myself): During Ben's first time by himself in the patrol car, he encounters a teenage boy whose father has publicly humiliated him because some bullies threw his sneakers over a power line. Ben, being the woobie he is, can't stop thinking about it, and we come to the end of the episode to find him sitting on the sidewalk and staring at the shoes up on the wire.
